Praise to the Postal Service. The ballots went into the mail on Saturday. No service on Sunday, Monday was a Federal Holiday, and we received ballots on Wednesday. That's pretty phenomenal.

I'm excited about this election, because it's the first time we've had multiple candidates for the top office. More importantly, we have some new faces in the mix. It's exciting to see more people getting involved.

Bob Duggan, John George, and Larry Gregg, are running for General Chairperson. This brings a new element into the equation. According to the constitution, Article 82, Lines 87 - 92, the winner must receive the majority of ballots cast. If there is no one receiving the majority of ballots cast, the top two finishers would be placed on a new ballot and a new election conducted. Watch for the announcements sometime February 8th.

Logan Brendon, Ed Gorman, Howard Hess, Gary Scott, and Patty Snell are running for Vice Chairperson.

Logan Brenden has been a mechanic with the company for quite a few years. He left to work in Anchorage before returning to GLS. Gary Scott and Patty Snell have been active members for many years, and relative newcomers Howard Hess and Ed Gorman are among the candidates for Vice Chairperson.

If you have not received your ballots by Monday, January 28th, get to any officer for a replacement. The officer will want in writing, your address, phone number, e-mail address (if possible), before giving you a replacement ballot. Per the Constitution, we must be able to match each ballot to an address on file, or we cannot open the ballot. It is imperative that we have your correct address.

Ballots must be received via US Mail, therefore you need to act quickly to ensure time to mail it in.
