Dear Brothers & Sisters:

Enclosed herewith you will find the E-mail and U. S. Mail addresses of the seven (7) members of the current UTU Board of Directors. These individuals are the ones responsible for the form letter that appears on the UTU web site telling the new President M. B. Futhey to establish a position at the federal court hearing in Akron, Ohio to "support the merger of UTU and SMWIA" as mandated by the former UTU Board of Directors.

That hearing has come and gone. The President of the United Transportation Union, Brother M. B. "Mike" Futhey has steadfastly maintained that the Members Rights, the UTU Constitution and federal law must be observed and protected.

Why don't these newly elected Officers feel the same? Are they so blinded by the unrelenting attempts of National Legislative Director James Brunkenhoefer and retired UTU President Paul Thompson acting in concert with SMWIA Michael Sullivan to give our Union away?

Don't they have any loyalty to you, the Members who have here-to-fore supported them in various elected positions? Can they be so easily led that they can be talked into ignoring both federal law and your rights as a Member? And to what end are they taking this action? So that all of you who are Members of UTU, a democratic Organization can be turned into mere chattel and placed under the control of a handful of Officers in SMWIA? They are willing to take away your money, your rights and your Union.

My purpose is for you as Members, Officers, General Chairman, State Directors, and Committee Persons refute their nefarious attempts to harm you by contacting them personally and telling them just what you think of their action. Tell those seven Officers that you support President Futhey's actions to protect you and the best interest of the United Transportation Union. Tell them you question their motives and the attempts that they are making to unreasonably control your future.

Please copy the President, Assistant President and GS&T. Thank you for your attention to this most urgent matter.
