Dear Friend,
Change is Coming to Health Care! The question is: what kind of change?
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) has been holding hearings on health care reform, and this week House Speaker announced that health care reform will come to Congress by the middle of the summer.
Jobs with Justice activists have been working with unions and other allies to promote a range of health care reforms to make care more accessible, affordable, and equitable, including universal single-payer health care as outlined by HB 676.
Negotiations are moving forward in the House and Senate and the insurance industry is lobbying hard to protect their profits and to take a single payer system off the table. Whatever health care reform you support, we all benefit from a full and honest debate of the options, including single payer.
That's why I ask you to contact the Senate and House Leadership and urge them to keep single payer on the table.
